He studied Clinical Medicine at Trinity College, the University of Cambridge, and completed a BA in Natural Sciences. His academic training includes an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship, Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship, an NIHR Clinical Lectureship and a BHF Intermediate Clinical Research Fellowship, alongside postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Trials at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
